퍼온겁니다.. 네이버 검색 지식인 "DIM Pool"
부팅시 "verifying dmi pool data..." 라는 메시지가 뜨면서 멈추는 경우가 있습니다..
저도 이 현상이 생겼는데 파티션을 새로 나눠보고, CMOS 세팅 초기화, 포맷 후 윈도우 다시 인스톨,
SCANDISK, 디스크 제조업체의 진단툴로 디스크 점검 등 별별 방법을 다 써봤는데 안되더군요..
물론 메인보드나 하드디스크 이상은 아니었습니다..(다른 하드디스크는 정상)

이걸 해결하려고 인터넷을 뒤졌지만 대부분 아래와 같은 정도의 해설만 있고 해결 방법은 자세히
안나와 있더군요..
(요즘 출시되는 메인보드에는 DMI(Desktop Management Interface)라는 기능이 있습니다. 이는 메인보드 바이오스에서 메인보드에 연결된 각 장치들의 IRQ 자원을 할당하거나 관리
하는 기능을 말합니다. 즉, 'Verifying DMI Pool Data'라는 메시지가 나타나는 것은 설정된 자원을 확인하기 위한 것이며, 메인보드에 이상이 있는 것은 아닙니다.)
뭐 이정도의 해설이 대부분이고 기껏 조금 더해서 CMOS Clear 해보라는 정도의...

해결책을 뒤지던중 일주일만에 외국 어느사이트에서 그래도 좀 자세히 나와있는곳을 발견했습니다..
그런데 ㅋㅋ.. 아쉽게도 사이트명이 지금 생각나지 않는군요.. 다행히 카피해놓은게 있어 올립니다..

“Verifying DMI Pool Data…”?
If you get this message on your computer and it hangs then that could be a seriously big problem
so please read this page very carefully or print it out for reference.

DMI stands for Desktop Management Interface and it is the part that does the bookkeeping concerning the configuration of the system hardware components.

Possible reasons:
- Hardware change,
- BIOS settings change,
- improper connection of IDE cables,
- corrupt MBR (Master Boot Record) of the HDD (Hard Disk Drive),
- defective HDD or defective mainboard.

Possible causes:
- Hardware incompatibility,
- virus attack,
- electric circuitry damage/defect,
- corruption of data,
- improper BIOS settings,
- over-clocking damage.

Possible solutions:
- Undo the hardware change and see if the system works again.
- Check whether all the cables and expansion cards make proper contact.
- Try setting the “Reset Configuration Data” (also known as “Force Update ESCD”) BIOS option in the BIOS “PNP/PCI configuration” to “Enabled”,
save and exit the BIOS. This option is a single boot setting and after being used after the reboot the option is set to “Disabled” again.
- Check your mainboard manual concerning information about the “Clear CMOS jumper” and then clear the CMOS.
Please note that with ATX power supplies based systems the power cord must be disconnected
or the mechanical switch of the PSU (Power Supply Unit) must be set to “Off” or “0” before the Clear CMOS jumper is used.
- Disconnect the IDE cables, enter the BIOS and set the boot sequence to start with the floppy drive.
Try to boot from a bootable floppy with the proper BIOS update files for your BIOS and update the BIOS.
After the update is finished clear the CMOS again and after booting set the “Reset Configuration Data”
(also known as “Force Update ESCD”) BIOS option in the BIOS “PNP/PCI configuration” to “Enabled”.
- If you can boot from floppy but the BIOS update does not help then if the problem is with a corrupt MBR of the HDD
you can try to use the partitioning program that belongs to the operating system version you use on that HDD to fix the MBR.
With Windows that would be the FDISK program and you would need to use a bootable floppy with that program and the command “fdisk /mbr”.
Or even better go to the website of the manufacturer of your HDD and download their special HDD diagnostic software tool
which can be usually found on their websites. If you have the means to do so you can test the HDD in another system.
- If all of that fails it is unfortunately likely that the mainboard or HDD has gone defective and needs to be replaced.

그러니까 대충 정리해보건대,
이런 현상에 대한
이유는
- 하드웨어 변경
- BIOS 세팅 변경
- 잘못된 케이블 연결
- 하드디스크의 MBR (Master Boot Record) 오류
- 하드디스크 또는 메인보드의 결함
원인은
- 호환되지 않는 하드웨어
- 바이러스
- 전기회로 손상
- 데이터 오류
- 잘못된 BIOS 세팅
- 오버클록킹 손상
해결방법은
- 변경된 하드웨어를 원상태로 되돌리고 시스템이 동작하는지 확인
- 모든 케이블과 확장카드가 제대로 꽂혀있는지 확인
- CMOS SETUP에 들어가서 "PNP/PCI"부분을 찾아서 "Reset Configuration Data",“PNP/PCI
configuration”을 "Enabled"로 바꾸고 리부팅
- 메인보드 매뉴얼을 참고로 해서 "Clear CMOS jumper" 해준다. (반드시 전원 OFF 상태에서)
- IDE케이블(하드디스크에 꽂힌)을 빼고 BIOS 세팅에 들어가서 부팅순서를 플로피 우선으로 조정
플로피로 부팅해서 BIOS 업데이트파일(미리 구해둬야함)을 가지고 BISO를 업데이트 한다
업데이트 끝나면 다시 CMOS Clear시키고 "Reset Configuration Data","PNP/PCI configuration" 을
"Enabled" 시킨다. ==> (개인적으로 생각하기엔 좀 위험한 방법)
- 플로피로 부팅해서 "fdisk /mbr"라고 입력
(이것은 HDD의 (Master Boot Record) 오류를 해결해줍니다.. fdisk /? 옵션으로는 보이지 않음..
완료되면 다시 프롬프트 상으로 빠짐.. 저도 이 방법으로 해결했습니다..)
- 또는 해당 디스크 제조업체의 사이트에 들어가 진단 tool 프로그램으로 진단
(여기서 오류 있으면 디스크 교체.. 저는 오류가 하나도 없었거든요)
- 이도 저도 다 안되면 디스크나 메인보드 교체하세요..
